Description
This is an early 18th-century two-bay end-chimney-stack house, located on Bonehurst Road in Horley. It was refenestrated in the early 19th century, likely when another chimney stack was added to the front, and extended to the right in the 20th century. The house is constructed of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern. It has a tiled roof with a brick stack on the right-hand side and a cement-rendered stack on the left.
The building is two storeys high with two windows. It features iron casement windows with leaded lights and pintle hinges, with the ground floor windows having a cambered head. A half-glazed 19th-century door is set within its original cambered opening. A one-storey brick extension was added to the right in the 20th century, and there is an outshot to the rear.
The interior retains several original features, including an inglenook with a bread-oven, a plank door with an L-hinge, a spine beam with run-out stops, plank doors, a winder staircase, and a mid-19th-century firegrate. The property is mentioned in the 1911 Victoria County History of Surrey.
