Description
No. 294 on Rochester High Street is a house that has been converted into a shop. It dates from the mid-18th century and features a timber frame with weatherboarding and a tiled Mansard roof. The building is single-depth with a single-storey outshut and has two storeys plus an attic. The front facade consists of a single-window range, which includes a 2-light dormer window and an 8-pane hornless sash window set in a raised surround with a moulded cornice. The shop front, dating from around 1900, includes console brackets, while the modern plate-glass windows are set above a brick plinth. At the rear, there is a stack and an outshut covered by a Welsh slate roof.
