Description

Nos 310 and 312 on St Margaret's Banks are a pair of houses that have been converted into shops. They were built in the late 18th century and feature painted brickwork with a Kent-tile mansard roof. The left-hand end stack has been truncated. The buildings are two storeys high with an attic and have a front that consists of a four-window range arranged in a 2:2 pattern. There are two gabled dormers, each with two lights. The parapet is topped with a cornice band and stone coping. The first floor has 12-pane sash windows set in reveals, which are placed under cambered window arches. Each unit has a house doorway on the left, featuring pilasters, panelled reveals, and panelled doors topped with rectangular overlights. The shop fronts, added around 1900, include fascias with console end brackets, and there are later 20th-century plate glass shop windows.
