No. 164 Eastgate is a former house that has been converted into a shop. It dates from the mid to late 18th century but incorporates earlier work. The building is constructed of red brick and features a Kent tile roof. It stands three storeys tall and has a ridge stack located on the right side. The front has a regular three-window arrangement, with hornless sash windows on the upper floors, consisting of six and twelve panes. These windows have exposed recessed frames set under flat rubbed brick arches and are complemented by pronounced stone sills. The building also has cast-iron rainwater goods. The shop front, added in the late 20th century, features plate glass. At the rear, there are renewed sashes and a single-storey extension. Very little of the original interior remains on the ground floor, and the upper floors have not been inspected.
