Description

No 149 on High Street is a house that has been converted into a bank. It dates from the mid-18th century and is built of red brick in Flemish bond with a Kent tile roof. The building stands three storeys high and features a regular four-window arrangement. The parapet, which has been largely rebuilt, includes stone coping and a cornice band. The upper floors have 12-pane sash windows set in reveals, which are topped with rubbed brick flat arches. The late 20th-century polished granite shop front is continuous with No 147, and a moulded dentil string course can be seen below the first-floor window sill level. At the rear, there are two hipped roofs.
