175 AND 177, EASTGATE (See details for further address information)

Nos 175 and 177 Eastgate are a pair of former houses, now used as shops, dating from the late 18th century. They are built of red brick in Flemish bond and feature a hipped Kent tile roof with a ridge stack. The buildings have a double depth plan and rise to three storeys, presenting a regular four-window range. The parapet is topped with stone coping and a moulded cornice.

The sash windows are set in reveals, with No 175 having 12 panes on the first floor and 8 panes on the second floor, while No 177 has 4 panes on both upper floors. These windows are topped with rubbed brick flat arches and have stone sills. The shop fronts were added in the late 20th century. The right return of the building features tile hanging from the 1980s. At the rear, No 177 has mid 18th century flush framed sashes with glazing bars.
