Description

The Medway Conservative Constituency Association Headquarters and Club is a former house with club rooms attached, dating from the late 18th century and significantly altered over time. The house is constructed of rendered brick and features a Welsh slate Mansard roof. It stands three storeys tall with an attic and has a single-bay front. The dormer includes a 6-pane sash window, while each floor has a single late-19th century tripartite sash window, all set beneath crudely rendered brick cambered and segmental window arches. The entrance features a 6-panel fielded door within a wooden architrave, adorned with simple brackets and a pediment, and an arched fanlight without glazing bars. The building is topped with a coped parapet and a cornice band.

Attached to the house are the club rooms, which are built of red brick with painted stone dressings. These rooms are also three storeys high and have a symmetrical three-window range in a bold High Victorian Italianate style. The central window bay is topped with a pediment, while the side bays feature segmental gables. The first and second floor windows are framed by heavy stone architraves of varied designs, although the second floor centre window has been replaced with a 20th-century casement. The first floor side windows have French doors leading onto balconies with iron railings. The central doorway is distinguished by a pronounced entablature and fluted pilasters, with double panelled doors.
