Description
Victoria House is a house located on Victoria Street in Rochester, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of gault brick with stucco dressing and features a hipped slate roof. The building is symmetrical, consisting of three storeys and three bays.
The facade includes two 16-pane sash windows on the ground floor, two on the first floor, and two on the second floor, along with a central 12-pane sash window on the first floor. There is one replacement casement window on the second floor. All window openings have stuccoed sills and flat arches with keystones.
The central entrance is framed by a rusticated doorcase with Tuscan pilasters and a cornice, leading to a six-panel raised and fielded door topped by a rectangular overlight with margin panes. The building is capped with a parapet that has a stone cornice band and coping. There are two chimney stacks at the front and two at the rear, although the rear stacks have been cut down.
Originally, this building was listed as Nos 19 and 21, with No 21 being separately listed for group value.
