Description
No. 80 Union Street is a building dating from around 1820 to 1830. It stands three storeys tall and is constructed of red brick with some grey headers. The low pitch hipped slate roof is concealed by a stucco parapet and cornice. The building features one window on the second floor, which is recessed and has a sash with intact glazing bars and a flat brick arch. The first floor has a canted bay window with three lights, also sash with glazing bars, supported by Doric pilasters, and features a frieze and moulded cornice with a panelled apron. The ground floor has a Victorian shop front with flanking pilasters that have round-headed panels and brackets topped with gabled caps. The moulded cornice at the front breaks forward in the centre, although the lower part is obscured by a fascia board. Nos. 78 to 81 Union Street form a group with this building.
