Description
No. 103 Monkton Street is a small villa dating from around 1840, located on a corner site with Melville Street. The building is two storeys high and has a stucco façade. It features a low-pitched hipped slate roof with a shallow eaves cornice.
The entrance front facing Monkton Street has two windows and one additional window in a later wing that extends over a shop to the south. The windows are recessed, sash style, with intact glazing bars and block sills. The central entrance consists of a recessed panelled and glazed door topped by a rectangular fanlight, framed by a plain wooden doorcase. There is a wooden porch supported by free-standing square-section columns and an entablature.
On the Melville Street side, there are three windows, including two in a bow that extends through both storeys to the east. These windows are also recessed, sash style, with intact glazing bars and block sills. Additionally, there is one original French window with bottom panels and marginal glazing bars located on the ground floor of the bow.
