Description

This is a circa 1830s pair of identical houses located on Monkton Street. The houses are stucco-faced and two storeys high with a basement. They have low-pitched slate roofs with projecting eaves featuring lion heads decorating the guttering. A moulded sill course runs along the first floor, and there is a frieze beneath it.

The houses are separated by a slightly recessed bay with a cornice parapet and coping, featuring a blind window on each floor. Each house has three windows, recessed and with sash glazing bars intact on No. 13. The windows have architrave surrounds and block sills to the ground floor. Slightly projecting central entrance bays extend up to the sill course. The recessed entrance doors feature four moulded panels, with two glazed panels in No. 13, and blind semi-circular fanlights; the reveals are recessed in three steps, with wide imposts and keystones breaking up into the frieze below the sill course.

The east garden front features three windows each, with two windows in a bow to the left. The ground floor windows have block sills, and the first floor has a sill course; glazing bars are intact on No. 13.
