Description

St Vincent, located at No 12 Barfield Road, dates from around 1830. This building is three storeys high with a basement and is finished in stucco. It features a low-pitched hipped slate roof with overhanging eaves. There is a moulded string course above the ground floor. The front has three recessed sash windows with glazing bars and block sills. The central window on the first floor is blind and has an architrave surround, a block sill supported by consoles, and a cornice with long fluted scrolled brackets on shell mouldings.

A prominent Greek Doric porch with free-standing columns and pilasters leads to a recessed door, which retains its lower panels and has upper lights with Art Nouveau glazing. To the side, there is a two-storey wing with one window, which is brought forward to align with the main front.

On the garden front, there are three windows, two of which are arranged in a shallow bay across the three storeys. The first-floor string course continues here, and the windows match those on the front, with intact glazing bars. The right side of the ground floor features a late Victorian rectangular bay addition, and there are cast iron window boxes beneath the ground floor bow windows. The wing on the garden front also has two windows.
