Description
Oxford House, located at No 10 Barfield Road, dates from around 1830. This building has two storeys and a basement, with a rendered and painted exterior. It features double gables and slate roofs, with the eaves concealed by a blocking course, cornice, and plain frieze. The façade is accentuated by flanking pilaster strips on a plinth. There are three recessed sash windows with glazing bars and block cills. The entrance has a recessed modern door with a rectangular fanlight above it. An enclosed Doric porch is present, featuring coupled pilasters at the front and additional pilasters set at right angles to the wall.
On the garden front facing east, there are four windows, three of which are in a bow that extends the height of the building, with one window featuring a balcony. There is an outcurving wing to the north with one window, which may have originally been part of a complete bow window; this has been altered, with the ground floor now converted to a door leading onto a modern verandah.
