Description
27 Barfield Road is a semi-detached building that dates back to the 19th century and is paired with No 18 Star Street. The structure has three storeys and a basement, featuring a rendered exterior and a painted low pitch hipped slate roof with projecting eaves.
On the Star Street side, there are three windows, with the center ones being blind. The windows are recessed sash with block sills, and the glazing bars are mostly intact, except for one on the second floor. The east and west sides of the building are flanked by pilaster strips, and there are bands between the storeys. The entrances are located at the side, with the entrance for No 27 Barfield Road set in a two-storey rectangular bay that has one window and a recessed late 19th-century door.
The garden front to the north features three windows, with the center ones being blind. The first-floor windows are set in round-headed panels, and the glazing bars remain intact. There is a later bay added to the ground and first floors of No 18 Star Street, which includes three windows with later glazing bars and a dentil cornice on the first floor, along with a moulded string on the ground floor. The ground floor window of No 27 is also a later addition, designed as a mullioned and transomed window with four lights.
