Description

Nos. 103 and 105 on George Street are semi-detached houses built around 1840. They are three storeys tall with a basement and are finished in stucco. The buildings feature a moulded cornice and a parapet that extends down the sides. Each house has two windows on the first floor, with the outer windows set in projecting bays. These windows are recessed, have sash frames with glazing bars, and are surrounded by moulded surrounds with block sills on the second floor. The ground floor has tripartite windows with plain strips and moulded sills. The basement window of No. 105 retains its glazing bars.

Access to the porches is via flights of six steps with parapets. The doors are set back and parallel, each with a semi-circular fanlight above. The doorcases are moulded, and the porches are flanked by squat pilasters with moulded arches and keystones, topped with pediments. Both houses have projecting bays on the north and south flanks, featuring tall round-headed staircase lights that are recessed and have sash frames with glazing bars. Additionally, No. 103 has a rectangular bay window on the second floor, supported by brackets, which has three lights, sash frames with glazing bars, a frieze and cornice, and an apron.
