Description
Nos. 7 and 9 on Shanklin Road are a pair of mid-19th century houses. They are constructed of stucco and topped with a slate roof. Each house is two storeys high and features three bays. There is a frieze and cornice above the ground floor, along with a top frieze and bracketed eaves. The ground floor windows project and have canted angles, featuring tripartite sashes with consoled mullions and architraves. The first-floor windows have eared architraves, with the end bay windows projecting like those on the ground floor, and include a sill course and panelled apron. The central bay windows break forward and have a panelled balcony, while the other windows are complemented by a balustraded balcony. All windows are sashed, with the first-floor windows including glazing bars. The round-headed entrance also breaks forward and features an archivolt with paired consoles to the frieze, which is adorned with rosettes. No. 7 has a four-panel door, while No. 9 has a half-glazed door.
