Description
The Church of St. Mary is a Methodist chapel, now serving as a church, built in 1872. It features rock-faced stone with ashlar dressings and a slate roof. The nave consists of five bays with two-light windows, and there is a canted apse at the west end, which now serves as a baptistry. A northeast tower is located at the north transept. The tower is supported by angle buttresses and has a pointed entrance with two orders and two cusped lancets above. It also includes two two-light windows with a rose window above, a Lombard frieze, a pierced parapet with gargoyles, and a splay-footed spire. The north transept has two two-light windows with a rose window above. The east end features a blocked entrance with two orders and a five-light window above it. The blocked entrance contains the foundation stone of the original parish church, which was destroyed during the war.
