Description
22 and 24 Villiers Road are a pair of semi-detached houses built between 1853 and 1854. They are finished in stucco and feature an interlocking tiled roof, with the left projection of No. 24 being hipped. The houses each have two storeys, an attic, and a basement. The ground floor is characterized by rusticated quoin strips and flanking pilasters that support the first floor.
No. 22 has a right recessed two-storey projecting porch with four stone steps leading up to an eight-panelled recessed door, which is sheltered by an open gable porch with shaped bargeboards. The first floor has a six-pane unequal sash window. No. 24 features a left recessed projection with a 20th-century lean-to entrance porch and modern doors, with a six-pane unequal sash window above.
To the left of No. 22 and the right of No. 24, there are rectangular bays with tripartite timber mullion casements at the front, flanked by pilasters, a frieze, and a cornice band course. Each bay has a plain tile hipped roof and panelled aprons, with three shortened mullion casements in the basement. On the first floor, each house has two 12-pane sashes set within eaved stuccoed surrounds. Each house also features one dormer with a two-light casement window, a gable facing, and a projecting verge with a bargeboard. To the left of No. 24, there is a projection with a four-pane casement and a six-pane casement on the first floor. The interior has not been inspected.
