Description
18 and 20 Villiers Road are paired semi-detached houses built in 1853. They are finished in stucco, with No. 18 featuring a steep pitched roof covered in Welsh slate, while No. 20 has a similar roof with interlocking tiles and a rendered stack at the center. The houses are two storeys high, with a basement and attic, and each has two bays. The central bays have paired gables with brackets at the eaves and verge.
To the left of No. 20 and the right of No. 18, there are recessed two-storey entrance bays that each have six stone steps leading up to a porch. The porch features a round-headed arch with an architrave opening, leading to a recessed four-panelled door. No. 18 has upper panels that are glazed with a fanlight, while No. 20 has a fully glazed door.
On the left side of No. 18 and the right side of No. 20, there are tall canted bay windows with two front casements and two flanking casements. No. 18 has a slate pent roof over its bay window, while No. 20 has a tiled roof. On the first and second floors, each house has six-pane sash windows with projecting sills and brackets, with the sashes on the second floor being shorter. Above each flanking bay, there is one sash window with marginal glazing set under a round-headed arch and architrave opening.
The interior has not been inspected. These houses are part of a group of mid-19th century buildings located on Villiers Road.
