Description
Stanhope House, located at No 21 Croft Road, dates from around 1820 and is built of stucco. The building features a parapet and cornice, with a slate roof. It stands three storeys high with a basement and has a string course at the first-floor level. The ground floor includes a sash window with glazing bars set within a stucco moulded architrave, alongside a doorway framed by a moulded architrave, which has a panelled and glazed door. On the first floor, there are two sash windows with glazing bars, each set in slightly recessed arches and accompanied by low cast-iron balconies. The second floor also has two sash windows with glazing bars. Access to the doorway is via steps, and there are area railings featuring arrow-head shafts, turned newels, and urn finials. Stanhope House is part of a group that includes Nos 5 to 35 (odd).
