Description

St Clement’s House is a house dating to circa 1820, with a rainwater head dated 1823. The house is built of painted stucco and has a slate hipped roof concealed behind a parapet, with two square-roofed dormers. It is three storeys high, with an attic and basement. The front elevation has two windows wide. A steep flight of steps with iron hand railings leads to a round-headed front doorway, featuring a panelled door and a semi-circular fanlight. Above the doorway is a sash window with glazing bars. The upper floors have sash windows with glazing bars, except for the first floor, which incorporates a segmentally bowed window running the full height of the house. This bowed window has three-light windows on each floor. The first-floor portion of the bow features a French window giving onto a balcony that spans the entire width of the house. The balcony has a tent-shaped roof, supported by slim columns with cast-iron railings, all mounted on iron brackets. St Clement’s House is part of a group comprising Nos 5 to 35 (odd).
