Description

Number 5 Wellington Square dates to around 1820. It is a stuccoed building with a rusticated ground floor, a cornice, and a parapet. It has a low-pitched slate hipped roof and four storeys over a basement. The building is two windows wide. The upper floors contain sash windows with glazing bars; those on the first floor are set within moulded architraves and are accompanied by a wooden balustraded balcony. The ground floor has two sash windows, their glazing bars missing, and a round-headed doorway with voussoirs, a fanlight, and a panelled door. The basement area is protected by railings featuring arrow-head shafts and turned newels with pineapple finials. The listed buildings of Wellington Square are considered to form a group.
