Description

The Swiss Cottage, located on the Osborne Estate in East Cowes, was built between 1845 and 1850. This two-storey chalet was imported from Switzerland to serve as a playhouse for Queen Victoria's children. It is constructed of tarred wood and features a gabled roof with overhanging eaves and a fretwork balcony on the first floor. The windows are adorned with ornamental leaded lights. Inside, the cottage includes a tiled kitchen, dining room, sitting room, and bedrooms.
