Description
Barton Manor Farmhouse, built around 1850, is part of the restoration of the Barton Manor Estate by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. This Neo-Jacobean farmhouse is two storeys high, constructed of stone rubble with irregular stone quoins. It features a steeply pitched tiled roof with gable ends, which have finialed saddlestones and kneelers. The farmhouse is adorned with tall, heavy capped red brick chimney stacks.
On the north front, there is a slightly projecting gabled bay that is off-centre, with four windows that include two, three, and four-light stone mullioned casements. An external chimneystack is located at the west end of this front. The west side has a double gable end and a projecting stone gabled porch with side lights and a three-centred chamfered arch. There is also an entrance on the east side, which features a three-window wing. The overall design is picturesque.
