Description
Barton Manor Cottages, located on Whippingham Road, date from around 1850-1860 and are designed in the Neo-Jacobean style. These cottages were formerly part of stables and are constructed from stone rubble with irregular stone quoins, possibly incorporating earlier masonry. They feature a gable and tiled roof with a clustered brick chimneystack. The gables are adorned with saddlestones and kneelers, and the walls rise above the eaves with chamfered coping. The central bay slightly projects and is gabled, with stone mullioned 2-light casements. There are ledged doors at the center, flanked by two windows set higher up. The cottages have a picturesque appearance and are part of a group of buildings.
