Description
The walls and balustrading to the terraces, alcove, statues, and two fountains at Osborne House were constructed between 1847 and 1853. These stone terraces feature balustrades that enclose a semi-circular alcove topped with a shell roof. The design includes bay and dolphin medallions, a band of shells, and a wooden seat supported by six cast iron dolphins. Among the various statues are the Venus and Andromeda fountains, designed by Professor Gruner, with the Andromeda statue created by John Bell, which was acquired from the Exhibition of 1851.
