Description

YORK AVENUE 1. 5270 East Cowes Prince of Wales Lodge SZ 59 SW 7/121 25.1.72. II GV 2. Circa 1845-46 by Thomas Cubitt. Two storey Italianate cement rendered lodge on L-plan. Gable end. Low pitched slate roof with deep eaves. West gable end has 2 close set narrow round-headed 1st floor windows with linked arches. Keystones. On the ground floor is a rendered canted bay window with round-headed sash lights, bracketed cornice and blocking course. Projecting gable end on south side has 3 narrow linked round-headed windows on 1st floor and 3 narrow flat headed ground floor windows. Set in angle on the south side is an arcaded porch, one opening to the west and 3 to the south, bracketed cornice and blocking course as on the bay window.
