Description
The Queen's Tea House, located on the Osborne Estate in East Cowes, was originally part of the grounds of Osborne House but is now privately owned. This building, dating from around 1850, is designed in the Italianate style and combines a boat-house and tea-house. The ground floor features a boat-house with a round-headed arch, and curved steps on either side lead up to the first-floor room, which has a terrace above. In the center of the building, there is a two-storey tower with a round window and a cornice supported by brackets. The roof is modern and pantiled, with a renewed parapet. The building has five modern windows with new shutters and a doorcase that includes a cornice and brackets. Queen Victoria often enjoyed tea on the terrace of this building, which adds to its historical significance.
