Description
No. 8 Little East Street is a house that has been converted into a bookshop. It dates from the late 18th century or early 19th century and features stucco that is scored to imitate ashlar over flint. The roof is tiled. The building has three storeys and dormers above a basement, with a three-window range. The flat-arched entrance is located in the second window range, which is not centered on the elevation. This asymmetry is due to the lower floors of the house being obscured by No. 6, which is positioned perpendicularly to No. 8. Inside, there is a stair hall with the original stair directly opposite the front door. A storey band is present between the first and second floors, along with a broad entablature band that is topped by a parapet at the second floor. The roof features a single catslide dormer in the center, and there is one window in the gable on the return. There are chimney stacks at the center of each end wall.
