Description
Terraced houses located on East Street in Brighton, built in the early 19th century. They feature a stucco exterior and a slate mansard roof. The buildings rise four storeys above a basement and include dormers. Since the entire block has been taken over by the Queen's Hotel, the addresses are becoming less relevant.
The East Street elevation has a six-window range, with three bays extending from the first to the third floors. The bay nearest the corner is canted, while the others have segmental shapes. All windows are flat arched, and the bay windows are triple with original sash designs: 4 x 4 for the first and second floors and 2 x 4 for the third floor. There are storey bands and a cornice present. The ground floors have been significantly altered, except for the corner unit, which retains a late 19th or early 20th-century shopfront.
On the King's Road side, there is a four-window range that includes two segmental bays rising from the first to the third floors, with all windows being flat arched and featuring triple bay windows. A continuous storey band runs between the first and second floors, and there is an entablature with a projecting corner near the corner units, although it has been removed from the rest of the group. The attic has a plain band below the parapet, and all bay windows, except for the left-hand attic window, have sashes of original design, 4 x 4. The interior has not been inspected.
