GV II

Pair of cottages thought to have been originally part of a terrace, now in one ownership. Late C18 or early C19 exterior, possibly with core of c1720 and C20 doors. Front is red brick in English Garden Wall bond with left side elevation of painted cobbles with brick lacing courses. Roof not visible because of restricted space; end brick chimneystacks. EXTERIOR: 3 storeys; 2 windows. Wooden horizontally sliding sashes. Central cambered opening with two C20 half-glazed doors. INTERIOR: not inspected. Reputed to be fishermen's cottages to a terrace which extended to the north but since demolished. Described as "an unusually early survivor in this part of Brighton" in Carder's "Encyclopedia of Brighton". Formerly listed in error as No.6 King's Road. (Carder T: Encyclopedia of Brighton: Lewes: 1990-).
