Description
This is an early 19th-century terraced house, now used as a shop and flats. It is located on East Street, Brighton, and also includes the adjacent building at No. 6C Bartholomews. The building is constructed of stucco and has a parapeted roof. It rises four storeys over a basement and has a single-window frontage. A late 19th-century shop front remains on the ground floor. A prominent full-height segmental bay with flat-arched tripartite windows dominates the upper floors. The first-floor sashes have six panes wide by nine high to the centre and four panes wide by six high to the sides. The second-floor sashes have six panes wide to the centre and four by four panes to the sides. The third-floor windows have three by three panes in the centre and two by two panes to the sides. A coping is present on the parapet. The building extends through the block, and its elevation on Bartholomews, which is included in this listing, mirrors the East Street façade in terms of plan and materials. Windows on the Bartholomews elevation are flat arched with projecting sills, and sashes have eight by eight panes to the first floor, four by eight to the second, and four by four to the third. The interior has not been inspected.
