Description

No. 4 Belmont is a detached house built around 1858. It features a combination of stucco and knapped flint, with a tiled roof. The house has three storeys above a basement and is double-fronted with a three-window range. The flint is arranged in panels framed by stucco storey bands and quoins. Access is via steps leading up between low coped walls to a flat-arched entrance set within a shallow porch, which has pilasters supporting an archivolt, keystone, and cornice. All the windows are flat-arched, with single-storey canted bays on either side. The mullions of these bays are designed as pilasters with stepped capitals. The house also features a cornice and a panelled parapet as part of a broad storey band. The first- and second-floor windows have eared architraves, with the second-floor windows being simplified. Additional details include a storey band, boxed eaves, a hipped roof, and stuccoed side stacks. The interior has not been inspected.
