Description

Number 2 is a detached house, likely dating from circa 1858. It is constructed of stucco and knapped flint, with an asbestos slate roof. The house is three storeys high, with a basement, and has a three-window front, being double-fronted. The front facade is faced with knapped flint set within stucco panels, punctuated by stucco bands and quoins. A flat-arched entrance is set back under a round-arched porch, featuring pilasters, an archivolt, and a cornice. All windows are flat-arched, with single-storey canted bays on either side of the entrance. The mullions of the bays are treated as pilasters with stepped capitals, topped by a cornice and blocking course. A broad storey band runs between the ground and first floors. The first-floor windows have eared architraves and small cornices. Another broad storey band is present, and the outer third-floor windows are raised to break through the cornice. The sashes are of original design, except for the outer third-floor windows. Bracketed eaves are present, and the roof is hipped. A two-storey stuccoed extension, also hipped, adjoins the building to the north-east. The interior remains uninspected. A partial stuccoed garden wall, panelled and coped, survives to the north-east, incorporating square rusticated piers with cornices.
