Description
The Cottages is a house located on Forest Road in Winkfield, dating from the mid-16th century and altered and extended in the 18th and 20th centuries. The building features a combination of part timber frame with brick infill and part red brick in Flemish bond, topped with an old tile gabled roof of varying heights.
The structure has a rectangular plan consisting of three framed bays, with extensions on both the east and west sides. It is composed of one and two storeys and has three chimneys, one of which has a clay pot. The east extension has a brick dentil eaves cornice. The entrance front, facing south, is irregular; it includes a single-storey, two-bay extension on the left and a two-storey, single-bay extension on the right. The central section features timber framing, with the ground floor displaying a two-light, three-light, and four-light window, along with two plain wooden doors situated between them. The left door is topped with a small part-tiled canopy, while the right door has a small gabled porch supported by wooden posts. On the first floor, there are a two-light window and two three-light windows. The interior has not been inspected.
