Description
This is a barn located approximately 26 meters north of The Priory, which is now used for domestic storage. It dates from the early 18th century and was altered in the 20th century. The barn features a timber frame that is weatherboarded, with the east gable wall made of brick and an old tile gabled roof. The brick plinth is constructed in part English bond and part Flemish bond.
The barn has a rectangular plan consisting of four framed bays, with a gabled midstrey in the second bay. On the south front, which faces the house, there are a pair of 20th-century garage doors leading to the midstrey. There is a plank door at the upper level to the right of the midstrey, along with two small windows with glazing bars below, situated between a stable door. A small plank door on the right-hand end provides access to the staircase.
Inside, many of the timbers have been renewed, and the roof features a queen post design with clasped purlins and curved knee braces supporting the tie beams. The barn is included for its group value.
