Description

This barn, located approximately 15 metres west of Priory Farmhouse, dates from around 1700. It is timber framed and covered with weatherboarding, topped with handmade red clay tiles. The barn has five bays arranged in a northeast-southwest orientation, featuring a midstrey on the southeast side. The frame is constructed with tenoned and pegged hardwood, and it includes arched braces to alternate tiebeams and primary straight bracing. The southwest end wall has been rebuilt using softwood. The roof has clasped purlins and has been rebuilt, incorporating some original rafters along with additional softwood and an inserted ridge piece. The barn is included for its group value.
