Description
Bridge Farmhouse is a house dating from the late 16th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is timber framed and plastered, with a roof made of handmade red clay tiles. The building has four bays facing south and features an internal stack in the second bay on the left side, positioned against the rear wall, which creates a lobby entrance. To the left, there is a milking parlour from the 18th or 19th century that has been incorporated into the house, along with a 20th-century lean-to extension in front of it, which is roofed with corrugated asbestos. The farmhouse is two storeys high and has a three-window range of 20th-century casements, along with a 20th-century door set in a gabled porch. Inside, there is a large wood-burning hearth that has been reduced for a 20th-century grate, and chamfered axial beams throughout the house, mostly featuring lamb's tongue stops, although the right bay has step stops. The roof is a clasped purlin design with arched wind-bracing. The position of the stack against the rear wall suggests that the original staircase was located in front of it, but this has since been removed.
