Description
Charity Cottage is a cottage that has been converted into a house. It dates from the early 18th century and has been altered and extended in the mid and late 20th century. The building is constructed of painted brick and features a steeply pitched tile roof. Originally, it had a rectangular plan with two cells, but it has been extended to the west and now has a gabled extension at the rear, forming an L-shape.
The cottage stands two storeys tall with an additional one-and-a-half storeys. It has two chimneys, each with cornices and clay pots; the chimney on the left has a broad base. At the rear, there are two gabled dormers. The windows are a mix of 19th and 20th-century casements. The front elevation, which faces north, was originally three bays but now includes a single bay extension on the right. The centre window on the first floor has been blocked, and there is a plain wooden door below that is now disused. The main entrance has been relocated to the rear and is sheltered by a plain, bracketed hood. The interior has not been inspected.
