Description
Riverside is an early to mid 19th-century former mill house, known as Roberts' Mill, located on Middleton Road in Mitcham. The building is two storeys high and features three window bays under a slate hipped roof, with paired bracket overhanging eaves. The exterior is clad in brick.
On the entrance front, there are sash windows with three panes each on the first floor, and two splayed bay windows on the ground floor. Steps lead up to a prostyle porch that has a round-headed doorway adorned with stuccoed impost blocks. The doorway includes an early 19th-century semi-circular fanlight with tracery above, and a five-panelled door where the top two panels are glazed, featuring a large, finely worked circular panel in the center. Additionally, on the right-hand return, there is a half-glazed door with a semi-circular fanlight and fluted impost.
