Description

The obelisk at the junction with Cricket Green in Mitcham, built in 1822, is a rendered monument that was originally located within the grounds of The Canons. It features an inset Portland stone tablet with an inscription that expresses gratitude for the provision of water in the area, referencing several biblical verses. The obelisk was erected to commemorate the relief of a serious drought.
