Description
The Old Red Lion Inn is an early 18th-century building located on Hackbridge Road. The left part of the inn is two storeys high, constructed of red brick with black headers, although it has been painted over. It features five old wooden casement windows, a band between the storeys, and a central door with a plain hood. To the left of the door, there is one sash window, and to the right, there are two sash windows, all with old catches and panelled shutters. The building has plaster eaves and a tiled roof with two flat-topped dormers, along with an external stack at the left end.
The right portion of the inn is of slightly later date but matches the height of the left side. This section is also made of red brick, now painted, and includes three 2-light casement windows with small panes and a band between the storeys. There is a door with a plain hood to the left, which is a half-glazed door with two rounded glazed panels, a modern sash window with shutters in the centre, and a similar 19th-century door to the right. The roof of this section is modern and slightly higher than the left side.
