Description

STRAWBERRY LANE 1. 4430 CARSHALTON Strawberry Lane Baptist Church TQ 2865 SW 10/176 II 2. Formerly known as Strawberry Lodge. C18 with C19 extension. 2 storeys with later cement rendering. Gable end slate roof, the eaves hidden by parapet and heavy dentil cornice, plain frieze. Band between storeys. 3 dormers with moulded cornices and gables, 5 windows and 2 in C19 extension. The centre bay in taller wing breaks forward. Sash windows without glazing bars but with moulded frames. Ground floor in taller wing has 2 large rendered C19 bays of 3 sash windows each, cornice and parapet with 3 balustraded panels above. Central door with good heavy early C18 plain shell hood on brackets. Flight of 9 steps with wrought-iron railings with urn finials. Records for the house have been traced back so far to 1782.
