Description
Morden College Estate Office is an early to mid-18th century house that stands two storeys tall and features five windows. It has a high-pitched, double-span roof covered with pantiles, which is visible at the back and includes a raised attic with a lantern in the valley. The front of the building has a parapet topped with wrought-iron railings. A guilloche moulded band runs along the first floor level. The ground floor is rusticated with wooden panels that imitate stone, which is a rare feature. These panels create heavy voussoirs and keystones above the windows. All windows are near-flush sashes with glazing bars; the first-floor windows have been renewed but are set in moulded frames that match the original style. Access to the door is via seven steps, which have a wrought iron handrail. The door itself consists of two flat panels and four fielded and beaded panels, topped with a cornice head and a decorative radial fanlight, and is set in a round-arched, panelled reveal. The Doric doorcase features triglyph friezes and mutule cornices beneath an open pediment. The building is part of a group with Nos 1 to 75 (odd) and Nos 20 to 30 (even) on Dutton Street.
