Description

This is a late 18th century house of three storeys and a sunk basement, originally featuring three windows. The building is constructed of multicoloured stock brick, with a parapet concealing the roof. The brickwork has been rebuilt using older bricks and incorporates a stone band at the level of the second-floor window sills. Recessed sash windows with glazing bars are set within stucco reveals, and feature gauged brick arches above. There is acanthus moulding to the brackets supporting the window sills. The central front door consists of six fielded panels, flanked by panelled sidelights, and is protected by a cornice hood and a patterned radial fanlight, all situated within a stucco-lined reveal beneath a round arch. The house has experienced considerable movement and has been reinforced with ties. Number 1 Westgrove Lane forms a group with Number 43 Point Hill.
