Description

This is a late 18th century house located on Blackheath Hill. It is a large, three-storey building with an attic, originally featuring three windows. The exterior is primarily brown brick, much of which is now covered with climbing plants. Decorative features include a frieze, cornice and parapet, along with a steeply pitched lead roof. Two large, square dormers were added in the late 19th century. The sash windows, originally with glazing bars and set in stucco-lined reveals, retain gauged, flat brick arches. Most of the sashes have been replaced, with the exception of two. A wide stone band runs across the first floor. The ground floor windows are new, consisting of three lights each. The main entrance is accessed by five steps leading to a door composed of two upper and four lower fielded panels. Above the door is a fluted cornice and a radial patterned fanlight, both set within a radially fluted architrave. A prostyle Tuscan porch, with an open pediment detailed with dentils and a panelled soffit, also features paterae to the friezes. The property is part of a group of buildings, numbers 87 to 93 (odd).
