Description
This is an early to mid-18th century pair of buildings located on Blackheath Hill. The two houses are built in stepped levels following the slope of the hill. Each house is three stories high with two windows. They are constructed of brownish stock brick. The roof of number 106 is concealed, while the roof of number 108 has been renewed in slate and is hipped. A wooden cornice, moulded and with modillions, runs along the eaves.
Number 106 has gauged brick arches with near-flat arches above the sash windows, which retain their glazing bars and are set within flush, moulded frames. The ground floor windows have been altered. Number 108 has arches which have been rebuilt, and the sashes and frames have been renewed. Both houses have recessed doors consisting of four fielded panels with two flat panels above, topped with rectangular fanlights, and accessed by three stone steps. The doorcase of number 106 has been lost, while number 108 retains a Doric doorcase featuring a dentil- ed open pediment containing a medallion with a figure surrounded by a garland.
