Description
Milford Hall is a building dating from around 1800, located on Castle Street. It is two storeys high with an attic, constructed of brick with rusticated stone quoins that are painted. The building features a small moulded and bracketed cornice, a plain parapet, and stone coping, topped with a very wide slate mansard roof. There are flanking chimneys and three windows, each four panes wide, on the first floor. The ground floor has two windows and a central door. All windows are fitted with moulded stone cills and shaped early 19th-century sun blind cases. The entrance includes a six-panelled door topped by an arched fanlight with a radiating, wreathed, and concentric glazing pattern, set beneath a deep porch supported by carved 'palm trunk' columns and pilasters. The porch features a broken entablature with a denticulated cornice and a curved, moulded, denticulated open pediment. The end elevation has two windows in the attic. The house is set back from the road in a garden bordered by lime trees and a group of fine cedars on the right. Inside, there is a staircase with a mahogany handrail, square balusters, and turned newels.
