Description
This is an 18th-century building of two stories and an attic, situated on the south-east side of West Street. The facade is rendered with incised lines, and includes a projecting plinth that extends up to a stone-coped parapet. The roof is covered in old tiles. Three dormer windows with two lights each are visible in the attic, the left-hand one being leaded.
A projecting bay is located to the right of the centre of the building. This bay contains a three-light window on the first floor and a six-panel door below, with glazed upper panels and an arched fanlight featuring a curved pattern and hexagonal lamp. The door surround is plain and dates to the 19th century, consisting of panelled pilasters, an arched head with spandrel panels, and a cornice. The rest of the front has seven windows on the first floor and six on the ground floor, arranged over two bays to the right of the projecting entrance bay.
A stable entry is situated in the left-hand corner, and a small arched service entry adjoins it, featuring a wrought iron grille with a radiating and scroll pattern. All windows are fitted with stucco architraves and contain three panes each.
The building forms a group of importance with numbers 18, 37, 43, 45 and all listed buildings from numbers 19 to 46 inclusive (including the wrought iron screen before Vernon House).
