Description

No. 90 on West Street is an 18th-century building featuring two storeys and a cellar. It is constructed of brick set on a chamfered plinth. The building has a moulded wood cornice with a fluted frieze decorated with roundels, and a brick parapet topped with stone coping. The roof is covered with old tiles.

On the first floor, there are five windows, with the central window being arched and supported by stone springs and a fluted key block. The ground floor has four windows and a central six-panel door. This door is adorned with a scroll brass knocker and an elaborate fanlight that has radiating and wreathed designs made of cast lead. The door is set within an arched panelled reveal that features a narrow architrave and a key block at the spring of the arch. The doorhead is enriched and is flanked by wood doorcases with fluted and half-reeded Ionic pilasters, topped with a broken dentilled entablature that has roundel ornamentation on the frieze and an open pediment.

To the left, there is a two-storey extension with one bay, which includes a Palladian window on the first floor and a five-centred arched stable entry below.

Nos. 75 to 94 on West Street, including Nos. 86A and 88A, form a group with this building.
